Northmead local knowledge
Northmead sits north of Parramatta, with boundaries that follow Windsor Road, Old Windsor Road, Toongabbie Creek and Darling Mills Creek. The whole suburb is now in the City of Parramatta. Parts of it were run by The Hills Shire Council until the 2016 council boundary changes, so older property documents and past approvals can carry the Hills name. The area began as the northern meadow of the Governor’s domain, which is where the name comes from. Orchards and poultry farms came before houses.
